NYC mayor honors plane rescuers at City Hall

NEW YORK: Mayor Michael Bloomberg says those who helped save 155 people from a plane that landed in the Hudson River showed an "indomitable spirit."

Bloomberg presented certificates Friday to the civilian and uniformed rescuers, saying, "New Yorkers wasted no time in helping."

Says the mayor: "No matter how bad things get, New Yorkers can get through anything as long as they do it together."

Bloomberg plans to present the key to the city to the plane's pilot. He says Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III can't speak publicly right now because of the investigation.

US Airways CEO Doug Parker said of the crew: "They are safe and they are doing well."
