Arizona, 2003–2008
From March 2003–February 2008, Arizona received funding from CDC’s
Division of Adolescent and School Health to provide HIV prevention education
and conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS).For information on

Past Program
Activities
Provided HIV
Prevention Education
- Provided local education agencies with a model HIV policy to
protect the rights of students and staff with HIV infection.
- Provided professional development trainings and other resources for
school health educators on implementing evidence-based HIV prevention
education.
- Partnered with the Arizona Parent-Teacher Association to provide
trainings for local school districts on how to improve parent-child
communication about HIV infection and other sensitive issues.
Conducted the Youth Risk Behavior Survey
- Administered the YRBS in high schools throughout Arizona to obtain
data representative of students in grades 9 −12.
- Created a brochure and a report to communicate YRBS results.
- Disseminated the YRBS results report and brochure to stakeholders
across the state.
