State Agencies North Dakota
North
Dakota’s Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) is a collaborative effort
between the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the North
Dakota Department of Health. The CSHP works with schools, local public
health units, multiple state partners, and statewide organizations to
improve the health and academic success of North Dakota’s children through
the implementation of CSHPs. North Dakota receives funding from CDC’s
Division of Adolescent and School Health to promote coordinated school
health, provide HIV prevention education, and conduct the Youth Risk
Behavior Survey (YRBS).

- Providing statewide CSHP professional development by sponsoring an
annual health promotion conference, summer credit classes, and training
events.
- Working with CSHP demonstration sites on local policy changes and
initiatives.
- Establishing youth-based partnerships to address the needs of youth
at greatest risk for inactivity, unhealthy eating, and tobacco use.
- Evaluating program activities to assess progress towards meeting
stated objectives and implementing CSHPs.

training cadre on HIV prevention education curricula and teaching
strategies.
