Past Program Activities, 2003–2008
Wyoming, 2003–2008

From March 2003–February 2008, Wyoming received funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to provide HIV prevention education, support partnerships and collaboration around helping youth remain abstinent, and conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS).

For information on Wyoming's current program activities, see Wyoming.

Past Program Activities

Provided HIV Prevention Education

  • Collaborated with other agencies working to prevent HIV infection among school-age youth to identify gaps in programming, reduce duplicative efforts, and develop a strategic plan.

  • Provided local education agencies with a model HIV policy to protect the rights of students and staff with HIV infection and prevent the spread of HIV infection.

  • Partnered with the Wyoming Health Council to maintain a cadre of master trainers who provide professional development to school personnel on HIV prevention throughout the state.

  • Maintained the Health and Safety Lending Library, which makes resources such as videos, posters, and brochures on health education available to school personnel throughout the state.

Conducted the Youth Risk Behavior Survey

  • Collected YRBS data that are representative of students in grades 9−12 across the state.

  • Created a report and CD-ROM to communicate the YRBS results.

  • Disseminated the YRBS executive summary, CD-Rom, and results report to stakeholders through the Wyoming Department of Education Web site.
