The Family Program / Growing Food Growing Together

A Saturday Community Program designed to bring whole families together to grow and prepare food.
Each family is assigned a 5'x15' plot to grow an assortment of  produce.
May through October

Seed to Supper
An eight week Wednesday and Friday environmental science, gardening and cooking program for youth between the ages of 6 and 13, partnering with DC Department of Parks and Recreation
and KIDS, Inc. plus ­ the Capital Area Food Bank Operation Frontline and Brainfood will
participate, offering six summer cooking classes with local chefs.

Garden Science
An eight week classroom and three week outdoor plant and science enrichment program elementary school students in the DC Schools where staff and volunteers provide instruction.

Sprout
A Science Program Reaching OUT to DC Elementary Schools. Topics include edible plant parts and their functions, composting and stewardship, plant life cycles, phytochemicals and bread making. Available in schools and in the garden upon request.

Kids Growing food: DC Teacher Training 2005
A full day on-site teacher training is offered by staff to DC teachers who have expressed an interest in gardening with children. Teachers tour the garden, receive instruction about tool safety, seed selection, propagation, planting, maintenance, composting and soil testing, pest control and much more.
