Q: How do I find a story about a specific company on your Web site?
A: In order to look up the most recent press releases and Bloomberg News stories about specific companies, please go to the Index page in our Investment Tools section to look up information on the company by its symbol.

Q: I saw a story on your site earlier, but I can't find it now.
A: Bloomberg.com updates frequently. We run top stories in a variety of categories. We also post the latest Bloomberg News stories and press releases about companies. It's possible that the story or press release you're looking for has been replaced with more recent news and is no longer available on our Web site.

Q: Whom do I contact about reprinting a Bloomberg News article?

Q: I really liked a story on your site. Can I link to it on my site?

Q: Part of a story is missing or there's an error in a story/press release.
A: Please contact Feedback. Choose "News" from the dropdown menu under "My feedback is in reference to:..." and fill in the requested details. Note: Since Bloomberg.com is a dynamically updating site, the URL you see the story under may have changed by the time we read your e-mail. Please make sure to give details about the name of the company the story or press release is about, the date it ran and the subject of the story (and, if possible, the headline of the story or the press release).

Q: Where can I find a press release about a company that's not publicly traded?
A: Bloomberg.com only runs press releases from publicly traded companies.

 
Market Data
Q: Is data on Bloomberg.com delayed or real time?
A: Most intraday data on Bloomberg.com is at least 15 minutes delayed. Mutual fund prices are updated at the close of every market day.

Q: Why is it that sometimes I see old data when visiting your site?
A: Clear out your browser cache and temporary Internet files and then hit your refresh/reload button to restore up-to-date information. If you still feel that data is incorrect, please let us know by writing to Feedback. We suggest that you do not bookmark pages, as use of these bookmarks may cause you to see old data.

Q: What is the difference between the Fed Funds Rate and the Prime Rate?
A: The Federal Funds rate is the interest rate that is charged by banks, with excess reserves at a Federal Reserve District Bank, to banks needing the money to meet reserve requirements. The Fed Funds Effective Rate is the average rate at which Fed funds were traded over the course of a day. The Fed will act to ensure that the Fed Funds rate trades within a range of its Fed Funds Target Rate, which is set at meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee. The Prime Rate is the interest rate on loans that commercial banks quote as an indication of the rate being charged on loans to their best commercial customers.

Q: How are your currency rates expressed on the World Currencies page?
A: When the U.S. dollar is listed first, the value is expressed as the number of that currency per U.S. dollar. For example, USD-DKK is the number of DKK per U.S. dollar.

Q: How can I convert an amount from one currency to another?
A: The Bloomberg.com Currency Calculator, located in the Investment Tools section, allows you to convert an amount from one currency to another.

Q: What is the Reuters/Jefferies CRB Futures Index?
A: The Commodity Research Bureau (CRB) constructs an equally weighted index of 17 commodities. The index is commonly used to gauge the effects of inflation.

Q: How can I find out more about using the Market Monitor?
A: Please use the Market Monitor troubleshooting pages. You must register with Bloomberg.com in order to access the Market Monitor. You can register now. If you have already registered with Bloomberg.com and wish to login, please click here.

Q: Should I use the default data that populates the Financial Calculators?
A: While calculators include default data to guide you, users should enter their personal data in the appropriate fields. Most calculators include their own instructions. If you don't understand the meaning of some of the terms used, you can look them up in our financial glossary. The blank entry boxes may be followed by symbols that will indicate in which format you must enter the data; for example, a box followed by a % means that you should enter 50, rather than .50, to indicate 50 percent. Click on the orange CALCULATE button at the bottom of each page to calculate totals. Answers will appear underneath the calculator area. If you wish to change data that you've already entered, make the changes in the calculator entry boxes and click CALCULATE to refigure.

Q: How can I send Bloomberg.com a press release?
A: Bloomberg.com receives all of its press releases from the Bloomberg Professional service. If you would like to send a business-related press release to the Bloomberg Professional service, please send it via email to release@bloomberg.net or for international press releases to newsalert@bloomberg.net. Note: Bloomberg L.P. will take steps to verify each press release, and senders of false releases will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Q: I am interested in some data that the Bloomberg Professional service provides but I can't find the data on Bloomberg.com.
A: Bloomberg.com focuses on providing free financial information, tools and news to individual investors. Financial professionals and public relations representatives are encouraged to use the Bloomberg Professional service. Q: How can I suggest a word for the financial glossary?

Q: I want to look up information about a company, but I don't know the symbol under which it trades.
A: Click on the "Find Symbol" link located within the top bar of all Bloomberg.com pages to go to our Find Symbol page.

Q: Is there a shortcut to looking up stocks that trade on non-U.S. exchanges in the Enter Symbol input box at the top of each page of the site?
A: If you wish to look up a stock trading on a non-U.S. market from the "Enter Symbol" function, when no source dropdown option is offered, use a colon and then the two-letter symbol for that exchange after the stock ticker. For example, BMW:GR.

Q: What are the Portfolio and Market Monitor? Where can I find out more about them?
A: The Portfolio and Market Monitor are two Bloomberg.com tools that work together to let you track financial information about stocks and mutual funds that you own or just want to follow. The Portfolio allows you to enter up to 5 different portfolios of 20 holdings each and will give you access to a wide variety of current, historical, technical, and fundamental data for those holdings. The Market Monitor is an application you can keep on your desktop throughout the day to watch changes to your holdings. For detailed information about these products please click here. Q: How do I install Bloomberg Desktop on my computer?
A: Click the download button on the Bloomberg Desktop page to begin the installation.
Save the BBDesktop.exe file to your computer. (Saving the file to your desktop makes it easy to find later). Depending upon your browser or download manager, you may have the option to automatically run the file after the download completes.
If the installation program did not run automatically, open the downloads window and click Open or double click the BBdesktop icon to install the application.
Follow all directions within the Desktop Installation Wizard. We recommend that you use the suggested settings when installing the application.
A Bloomberg Desktop icon will appear on your computer desktop. Double click on the icon to launch the Bloomberg Desktop.

Q: How do I set up alerts?
A: On the Bloomberg Desktop click on the orange triangle-arrow icon to reveal additional menu items. Select "News Alert Settings" to view news alerts. The bottom of the window allows for the insertion of ticker symbols. Enter stock tickers one at a time using a colon followed by the two-letter symbol for that exchange. For example, GE:US. Enable/disable news alerts for a single security by clicking on the circle to the left of the security. If the circle is green the alert is enabled, a red circle indicates the alert is disabled. Removing a ticket is as easy as clicking on the trash can that appears near the symbol. When you have completed your changes, click on the "X" in the corner of the window to return.

 
TV/Radio
Q: What are the technical requirements to operate the Video Player?
A: Bloomberg.com's special Video Player requires a current Windows Media Player be installed in your system.

Q: I have the required software, so why isn't my audio/video player working?
A: If you are accessing Bloomberg audio or video from behind a firewall, as is the case in many business network environments, you must configure your audio video player to work from behind a firewall and/or with a proxy and, possibly, the firewall itself to handle streaming content. Ask your network administrator/ISP for assistance. Your player's help pages will have instructions on proxy, transport and playback setting.

Q: Why are the Bloomberg Radio and TV reports running slowly?
A: During peak hours on our site, the increased number of users sometimes results in slowness for our radio and TV reports. Also, if you are accessing the reports from a location with an administrator, limits may have been set to limit the bandwidth that you are allowed to use.

Q: Where can I find copies of Bloomberg Markets Magazine available on newsstands?

Q: How do I order Bloomberg books online?
A: You can order books from our Bloomberg Press online bookstore.

Q: Does Bloomberg Press offer bulk discounts for purchases?

Registration
Q: I don't want to receive e-mail from Bloomberg or its affiliates once I've registered. How can I stop from doing this?
A: When you log in to Bloomberg.com successfully, you're given the option to "Review/Modify Your Bloomberg.com Membership Information." Click on the link to access your profile. If you have registered to receive emails, you will see them checked to Yes; you can change them to be No to not receive emails. If you do not see your product email status in your profile at all it means you are not registered to receive emails and there is nothing further you need to do. Please note that Bloomberg.com reserves the right to send registered members information for maintenance purposes about products for which they are registered.

Q: When I tried to register, I get the message: "THE USERNAME YOU SELECTED CAN NOT BE USED. THIS NAME IS EITHER INVALID OR ALREADY EXISTS."
A: Either someone has already registered the Username you entered or you have previously registered for a Bloomberg.com product. If you have forgotten your password, you can obtain it here.

Q: How can I change information that's in my Bloomberg.com profile?
A: When you log in to Bloomberg.com successfully, you're given the option to "Review/Modify Your Bloomberg.com Membership Information." Click on the link and make any desired changes on the following page, and then click on the "Change Profile" button.

Q: I registered awhile ago for the Portfolio Tracker and/or Market Monitor, but now I can't log in.
A: If you haven't logged into either product for six months your username and password have been deleted. Please register again.
