Crop Protection

Mode of Action Classification Scheme

The IRAC Mode of Action (MoA) classification scheme provides farmers, growers, advisors, extension staff, consultants and crop protection professionals with a guide to the selection of insecticides or acaricides in an effective and sustainable insecticide or acaricide resistance management (IRM) strategy. In addition to presenting the MoA classification, the scheme outlines the background and purpose of the classification list and provides guidance on how it should be used for IRM purposes. The scheme is reviewed and updated as required and any comments can be passed to the MoA Expert Team via the IRAC Coordinator.

eClassification

An interactive eTool called eClassification has been developed to provide quick and easy access to active ingredients and along with their classification in the MoA scheme. Further development on this project will lead to the gradual inclusion of links to active ingredient datasheets providing information on molecular structure, pest and use information etc.

MoA Posters

A number of posters have been developed and are available to download. These include a general poster covering the scheme, a poster showing chemical structures by classification number and poster specifically on the actives used for whitefly. A further similar poster is being developed for lepidopteran pests.
