Food and Society Update Volume 6, Issue 10 (July 2007) - Signs of a Culture Shift - Welcome to the July edition of the Food and Society Update. This month, we've been on the lookout for signs of a culture shift—signs that the food system and the food movement are moving into the national consciousness. We've discovered blurring lines within the environmental movement, where the solutions to a runaway food system and a dangerously warming planet are pieces of the same puzzle. At recent networking conferences for both food writers and culinary professionals, the food systems story has been the main dish. In the aisles of local bookstores around the country and in public meetings about the politics of the plate, the story being told is all about food. But we think this is just the tip of the iceberg.
