Tigrigna

Tigrigna is believed to be the oldest Ethiopian language, spoken in the Tigrai region. It is also one of the two official languages of Eritrea. The other is Arabic. Estimated population 3.5 million. Tigrigna uses the ancient Ge’ez script. Tigrai is one of 11 regions in Ethiopia and has a population of 4.6 million. There are Tigrigna speakers in other regions of Ethiopia as well.
