Overview: |
Learn how to use the principles of macroeconomics to analyze current economic trends and policies. Develop the skills necessary to compute major macroeconomic indicators, such as annualized growth and inflation. Learn about major economic and financial institutions and study the formal economic models necessary for understanding and discussing economic policy and its consequences. This course is designed for business analysts, consultants and reporters as well as those who need reliable interpretations of U.S. economic events for their trade associations, nonprofit corporations, government agencies, congresspersons, news organizations or for their own benefit. The course text is supplemented with current Wall Street Journal reports and various government reports available on the Web. All students are required to have a calculator with the log and power function key (such as the TI-25). Access to the Internet is also required. |
Prerequisites: |
Principles of Economics I: Macroeconomics (ECON1110E) or equivalent or permission from the instructor. |
