Brokencyde

Marion Jr/Sr High School

Prediction: Conclusion:
if we use different levels of compactness in our soil would that effect the germination of the seed? if we use different compacted potting soil, then we will know which one the seeds will grow better in and which one to use for planting This question is significant because when we discover which soil (compacted, semi-compacted, loosely compacted) we will then know which level of compactness will be best for planting pea seeds.

Prediction: Conclusion:
If you add alpha-amylase to a seed, will it coincide with the beta-amylase to accelerate or reduce the rate of seed germination?

Prediction: Conclusion:
Will a black light affect the plant's growth? If so, will it make the seed grow bigger or will it stunt it's growth.

Conradicle and Pals

Prediction: Conclusion:
Which liquid will hydrate a plant better between water, Gatorade, a Monster energy drink, and Sprite?

Ninja Turtles

Prediction: Conclusion:
Does the different colors of plastic wrap affect the growth of alfalfa?

Plantanators

Fo toe syn thesis

Marion Jr/Sr High School

Prediction: Conclusion:
Q. If we take a corn seed then will it germinate in mineralized water better than tap water. We are doing this because we are interested in hydroponics growing and we are going to use a mineral block to simulate the minerals of hydroponicaly growing plants

Mighty Ducks!

Marion Jr/Sr High School

Prediction: Conclusion:
Will the different types of soil: potting soil, barn yard soil (soil with cow manure), and sand effect seed germination? We would like to see which soil will germinate the alfalfa the fastest. This investigation is signifant because we are very interested in finding out which soil will germinate the seeds the best. When it comes to farming it would be nice to know if alfalfa will grow in sand or other types of soils. If it will not grow in bad soil like sand then there is no point of every trying to reseed something that you know will not grow. This is investigation is also important because with the world hungry crisis, this will help scientists learn how to control the problem.

Question: What light makes the plants grow the fastest?

D.A.N

Prediction: Conclusion:
Our question is: What willl be the differences between 3 corn plants when one is grown under natural sunlight, one is grown under Fluorescent light, and one is grown under a black light?

Botany Ballers

Bishop Dwenger High School

Prediction: Conclusion:
Would the growth and germination of a cinnamon basil plant be affected if the seeds were from zero gravity or earth's gravity?

Team Cornbread

Prediction: Conclusion:
Which seed needs light to germinate, a sunflower seed or a millet seed?

The Bean Team

Bishop Dwenger High School

Prediction: Conclusion:
Will cleaning products affect the germination/growth of your plants.

Tons of Fun!

Prediction: Conclusion:
Will different brands of sunflower seeds germinate at the same rate? Will germination vary between seeds growing in petri dish or in soil?

The Miracle Growerz

Appleton West High School

Prediction:
Will breeding plants with the least amount of hairs on the first true leaf together create plants with small number of hairs on their leaves?

Genetics 4 Life

Appleton West High School

Prediction:
Is more hairs on the leaves connected with the genetic makeup of the plant?

The Pollywallyoptasaurus's

Appleton West High School

Is leaf hair a genetic trait or is it something that can be tirggered by the environment?

It's All Skill

Appleton West High School

Why did plant 57 and 59 not germinate? Why is plant 60 so much larger than 58? Will all the plants grow to become the same height? Why do some grow faster than others? It is beneficial for the leaves to have more hair? Why do some plants die when others in the same quad grow fine? What determines the number of hairs on the leaf? Why are the cotelydon changing colors? At what point do flowers begin to grow?

Big Bad Bumble Bees

Prediction: Conclusion:
Dose the temperature of the environment effect the amount of CO2 that the seeds will give off.

The Billabongers

Prediction: Conclusion:
Which will cause a bean plant to have the longest roots? Mycorrhizae, worms, mycorrhizae and worms, or nothing?

Meet Our Scientists

Ms. Margaret "Maggie" Sporck
I study plant anatomy and physiology. Specifically, I am looking at the leaf anatomy of a group of native Hawaiian plants in the genus Chamaesyce.
