Washington, DC — Inauguration Day 2009Service updates for Washington, DC metropolitan areaWashington, DC– the following service changes are in effect for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009. All P&DCs, SCFs and BMCs in the region will be open during the Inauguration. A map of restricted areas and road closures is available at: http://www.secretservice.gov/presidential_inaugural.shtml The collection receptacles listed below will be temporarily removed as a result of Inauguration Day activities.
The following retail offices below will be closed on Tuesday, January 20.
The Postal Service will make every effort to provide retail and delivery service to customers on January 20. However, congestion and road closures in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area may prevent USPS from providing normal service. Blue collection boxes in the vicinity of Inauguration Day festivities may experience late or next-day pick up if vehicular restrictions prohibit access and personnel are unable to retrieve mail from the receptacles. The following ZIP Codes may experience partial or non-delivery: 20001, 20002, 20003, 20005, 20024, and 20037. There will be no delivery to the following ZIP Codes on Inauguration Day: 20004 and 20006. New Jersey – Fire damageService updates for Union CityThe Bergenline 45th Street Station, 4535 Bergenline Ave., Ste, A, Union City, NJ, 07087-9993, has been evacuated and closed due to smoke and water damage related to a fire in an adjacent building. New York Fire – Severe Water DamageService updates for Pavilion, NYPavilion Post Office, 11142 Lake Street, Pavilion, NY 14525 is closed due to severe water damage from a fire. All operations have been relocated to Leroy Post Office, 2 Main Street, Leroy, NY 14482. All drop shipments for the Pavilion Post Office should be directed to the Leroy Post Office, 2 Main Street, Leroy, NY 14482. Hurricane IkeService update for Texas and LouisianaTexasThe following offices are closed: Gilchrist (77617) and Orange (77630). Sabine Pass (77655) will reopen on 12/29. Note: Mail for Gilchrist Post Office customers (77617) is available at the Stowell Post Office (77661). Orange Post Office (77630) has temporary operations located in the parking lot. Galveston, TXThe Galveston Main Post Office has resumed all delivery and retail services from within the Federal Building site effective Monday, Dec. 15. LouisianaCameron Post Office (76520) is closed. Residents can pick their mail up at the Lake Charles Drew Station. Ravenwood, MO, Post Office ClosedService updates for Ravenwood, MORavenwood, MO, 64479 Due to structural damage at the Ravenwood Post Office, 102 N Main St, Ravenwood, MO, 64479, the facility was closed Jan. 9, 2008. All operations have relocated to the Maryville Post Office, 507 N Fillmore St., Maryville, MO, 64468. All drop shipments for the Ravenwood Post Office should be directed to the Maryville Post Office, 507 N Fillmore St., Maryville, MO, 64468. Fruitland, IA, Post Office closedService updates for Fruitland, IAFruitland, IA 52749 The Fruitland, IA, Post Office was destroyed by a major tornado June 1, 2007. Postal operations have been moved to the Muscatine Post Office, 3100 Cedar Street, Muscatine, IA 52761-9998. Drop shipments for Fruitland should be scheduled with and delivered to the Muscatine Post Office, 3100 Cedar Street Muscatine, IA 52761-9998.
