Cortina d'Ampezzo is a town and municipality in the province of Belluno, Veneto, northern Italy. It is located in the Dolomites, and is a popular winter sports resort. It became internationally known when it hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics. The first area hotels were built in the 1860's and in 1902, Cortina hosted its first ski competitions. The most famous peaks in the city's neighborhood include Le Tofane, Il Cristallo and Le Cinque Torri.
