Communications Specialist

Restore America's Estuaries is seeking a high caliber Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for effectively managing RAE's strategic communications and brand. These strategies will result in an informed and engaged community of donors, partners, and volunteers. The Communications Specialist will be expected to increase our visibility nationally in the communities where we work, as a recognized convener and contributor – further empowering our eleven member organizations, strengthening our national partnerships, and positively impacting the habitat restoration communities where we work.

Business Manager

Restore America's Estuaries is seeking a Business Manager to run the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the organization. The Business Manager is responsible for setting up and directing administrative procedures, managing the bookkeeping operations, overseeing annual audit, providing administrative support to the President and other staff, meeting and event planning, assisting in project development, and upkeep of the organizational files.
Location: Arlington, VA (one block from the Courthouse Metro station)
Responsibilities:
• Manage all accounting functions including AR, AP, cash receipts, disbursements and taxes
• Create timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• In conjunction with the President, oversee annual budget formulation, provide monthly reports, and assist with development and tracking of project budgets
• File yearly non-profit registrations with states
• Identify the procedures and policies that will best increase internal controls and organizational efficiencies; create, manage, and adapt controls as needed
• Oversee payroll and manage employee benefits and other personnel activities
• Arrange travel and lodging logistics for Board of Directors and staff
• Maintain and update organizational files and design filing systems where appropriate
• Respond to routine inquiries and requests for information
• Maintain office, office equipment, and inventory of supplies
• Track government and foundation grants and contracts; facilitate preparation and submission of quarterly, interim and final reports
• Assist with National Conference planning and logistics needs
• Manage vendor accounts and services for the organization
• Oversee annual audit and tax preparation work with external auditors
• Manage banking and insurance relationships

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Individual should be a self-starter who is reliable, intelligent, and comfortable working in small office environment. In addition, the Business Manager should meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, or administration. MBA is preferred
• Four years related experience, preferably with nonprofit organizations
• Finance or accounting skills
• History of taking initiative and executing successful organizational systems
• Good sense of humor and ability to work in fast-paced, demanding environment
• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, for multiple people, simultaneously
• Commitment to excellence
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Superior attention to detail
• Commitment to our mission
• Strong knowledge of current bookkeeping/accounting/budgeting software, including QuickBooks experience
• Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Excel
Compensation:
This is a mid-level position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits package, consistent with Restore America's Estuaries' personnel policies, including but not limited to health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan and vacation.
