No one piece of legislation defines government services to youth with disabilities or for that matter, any youth. Instead, there are a number of acts that impact youth with disabilities. NCWD/Youth has gathered and highlighted the following information about a number of these acts:

Summary of Revised IDEA This summary explains some of the major provisions of the new law including individualized student planning, transition, litigation, and due process protections. The revisions of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) build on and more closely align IDEA with the No Child Left Behind Act.
Expanded Overview of the ADA This overview provides information on the structure of the ADA and identifies enforcing agencies, introduces language and information associated with the definition of disability, and explains the historical context of the disability rights movement and related Federal laws, culminating with the passage of the ADA.
