2004 Educational Conference Highlights

The Herb Society of America's 2004 Educational Conference and Annual Meeting of Members, "Herbs Rock!" was held June 17 through June 19 at the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square, Cleveland, Ohio.

Featured speakers included author and researcher, Peter Gail, culinary herbalist, writer and photographer, Pat Crocker, author, Susan Wittig Albert, and horticultural therapy experts, Nancy Stevenson and Patricia Owen. In total, ten speakers presented five programs covering a variety of herbal topics. A Leadership Forum session offered "tools and tips" to help members develop a variety of skills such as archiving, fundraising, public garden maintenance, research and writing skills, starting an herb business, educational program development, creating a personal herbarium and many other topics.

Participants also had the opportunity to peruse the offerings of herbal vendors during the Marketplace, and to attend pre and post-conference tours of local gardens.

The conference concluded with HSA's Annual Awards Ceremony.
