Our commitment to environmental stewardship is deep-rooted
and tied to a tradition and history with the land and our
way of life. Our programs are nationally-recognized for
excellence:
The Tribes spend over $10 million a year on
natural resources and land management to protect
and enhance those resources on the Reservation.
We maintain strict environmental standards
for air and water quality.
We are the first tribe in the nation to
designate our own wilderness area, the Mission
Mountains Wilderness Area.
Under the cooperative management agreement
between the Tribes and the State of Montana,
thousands of acres on the Flathead Reservation
are open to non-Tribal members for fishing and
bird hunting on the Flathead Reservation.
