Marriott Rewards Terms & Conditions

General Membership

  1. Marriott Rewards membership and its benefits are offered at the discretion of Marriott. Marriott and its travel partners have the right, without limitation, to change, limit, modify or cancel Program Rules, regulations, rewards, and reward levels at any time, with or without notice, even though such changes may affect the value of points or miles already accumulated, the ability to use accumulated points or miles, or the ability to obtain certain rewards. Marriott and its travel partners may, among other things: (a) increase or decrease the number of points or miles received for a stay or required for a reward; (b) withdraw, limit, modify, or cancel any reward or category; (c) add blackout dates, limit rooms available for reward redemption at any participating hotel, change or restrict participating hotels, or otherwise restrict the continued availability of rewards; (d) change program benefits, travel partners, locations served by Marriott or its travel partners, conditions of participation, rules for earning, redeeming, retaining, or forfeiting points or miles, or rules governing the use of rewards; (e) change or cancel its travel partner rewards. The accumulation of points or miles does not entitle members to any vested rights with respect to points, miles, rewards, or program benefits. In accumulating points or miles, members may not rely upon the continued availability of any reward or reward level.

  2. Participation in the Marriott Rewards program is subject to the terms and conditions, rules, regulations, policies and procedures ("Program Rules") that Marriott may, in its discretion, adopt from time to time. Marriott may amend the Program Rules at any time without notice. Marriott has the sole discretion to interpret and apply the Program Rules.

  3. The accumulation of points and miles is subject to the Marriott Rewards Program Rules. Each member is responsible for reading the Marriott Rewards terms and conditions, newsletters, and account statements in order to understand his or her rights, responsibilities, and status in the program.

  4. The rewards structure is subject to modification, cancellation, or limitation at Marriott's discretion, with or without notice. The number of points or miles required to redeem any reward may be substantially increased, any reward may be withdrawn, and restrictions on any reward or its redemption may be imposed at any time.

  5. Additionally, Marriott has the right to end the Marriott Rewards program by providing written notice to its members six months in advance of program termination. In that event, the right to earn points and miles and redeem for rewards may end six months after notification, no matter the extent of member participation in the program. We may terminate the program in whole or in part in any jurisdiction(s) if required to do so by applicable law.

  6. After applying to the Marriott Rewards program, a membership number will be assigned to each applicant. Upon receiving this number, an individual becomes eligible to earn Marriott Rewards points or frequent flyer miles.

  7. An account may be closed at Marriott's discretion if no points are accrued during a 24-month period. All points in the account will be forfeited at that time.

  8. The terms and conditions of affiliated airline programs control the redemption and distribution of the miles earned or transferred.

  9. Marriott Rewards points, rewards and airline miles earned through participating in Marriott Rewards may be subject to tax liability. Any tax liability, including disclosure, connected with the receipt or use of Marriott Rewards points, rewards or miles is the sole responsibility of the member.

  2. Participating point earnings partners are Marriott ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments. Participating redemption partners are The Ritz-Carlton, Peppers Retreats and Resorts, Ashford Castle and Dromoland Castle.

  3. In the case of fraud or abuse involving Marriott Rewards, point credit, mileage credit, reward use, or a participating hotel, Marriott and its travel partners have the right to take appropriate administrative and/or legal action, and all frequent flyer miles or points and certificates earned through Marriott Rewards may be forfeited and any relevant account(s) closed.

  4. Membership in Marriott Rewards, including any reward certificates that may have been issued to a member, may be revoked or suspended at Marriott's sole discretion if a member fails to pay any MVCI ownership related fees, Marriott Rewards fees, Marriott hotel bills, or accounts at participating hotels when due.

  5. The awarding of Marriott Rewards points, frequent flyer miles and the redemption of Marriott Rewards certificates are void where prohibited by law.

  6. When traveling on business, it is the member's responsibility to comply with his or her company policy concerning travel programs.  Information regarding a member's accumulation of points or miles for business travel is subject to disclosure to the member's company.

  7. You may be provided with the ability to use usernames, passwords, or other codes or devices to gain access to restricted portions of the Marriottrewards.com site ("access codes"). The content contained in such restricted areas is confidential to Marriott, and is provided to you for your personal use only. We reserve the right to prohibit the use of such access codes on your behalf by third parties where we determine that such use interferes with our site's operation or results in commercial benefits for other entities to our detriment.

  9. Marriott Rewards Points cannot be converted to or exchanged for Tesco Clubcard Points.

Conditions of Enrollment

  1. Only individuals are eligible for Marriott Rewards membership, and each individual may maintain only one account. Corporations, groups and/or associated entities cannot enroll as Marriott Rewards members.

  2. Employees of Marriott International, Inc., and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., and their subsidiaries are ineligible to participate in Marriott Rewards.

  3. Accrued points and miles do not constitute property of the member. Points accrued by a Marriott Rewards member are for the member's benefit only and may not be transferred to anyone. Points are transferable to a legal spouse or partner only in the case of documented death of the member. Points are not transferable to another person for any other reason, including divorce or inheritance.

  4. Respecting your privacy is a priority for us. However, in order to keep you apprised of your Marriott Rewards membership status, it is important that we send you certain program information that may include printed periodic statements of your account and other information necessary for administration; printed or email marketing materials from Marriott (including Marriott Rewards, Marriott hotels and other hotel brands owned by Marriott and other Marriott companies) which will inform you of special offers and products we believe would be of interest to you; and marketing materials from third parties that have a strategic marketing relationship with the Marriott Rewards Program. The information you provide to us when enrolling in Marriott Rewards and redeeming points is processed in our computer systems both in the country where this information has been collected and/or in our primary computer system in the United States. As a participant in Marriott Rewards, you have consented to receive all of the kinds of information described above. However, you will be given the opportunity to opt-out of mailings from such third parties and from e-mails from Marriott.

Account Activity Statement

  1. A Marriott Rewards member will receive an activity statement and a Marriott Rewards newsletter only if the member has earned points, miles or claimed a reward certificate(s) during the previous statement period. Click here to view your account status. You shall be responsible for advising Marriott of any change of address and Marriott shall have no responsibility for misdirected or lost mail or any consequences thereof.

  2. You are responsible for ensuring that your points or miles are properly credited. If proper credit does not appear on the member's activity statement, the member should complete a  Missing Stay Request Form, then mail or fax the form, along with a copy of the paid hotel receipt, to Marriott Guest Services. Allow approximately six to eight weeks for the stay to be credited to your account. Requests to add or modify Marriott stays must be received within one year of the stay.

Duplicate Accounts

If more than one membership number is assigned to an individual, he/she will only receive points or miles for one account. Duplicate accounts will be canceled.
