NEW DISTRICT RANGER HIRED AT
HELL CANYON
CUSTER, SD: DECEMBER 18, 2008
Craig Bobzien, Black Hills National Forest Supervisor, is pleased
to announce Lynn Kolund as the new District Ranger at Hell Canyon
in Custer, SD.
“Lynn brings us a breadth of experience working with communities
and tribes on important resources and community interests,”
said Bobzien.
Kolund comes from the Ketchikan-Misty Fiords on the Tongass National
Forest where he served as District Ranger. He also worked on the
Grand Mesa-Uncompahgre Gunnison National Forest in Colorado and
served as part of the Chief’s “Line Officer Team”
on fire issues in the Alaska Region. He is currently on temporary
assignment in Legislative Affairs in Washington D.C.
Kolund graduated from Chamberlain High School and started his Forest
Service career on the Bearlodge Ranger District in Sundance, WY.
He said that working in the Black Hills will be like coming home.
“I am excited and looking forward to working with everyone
including local governments and organizations,” said Kolund.
Kolund and his wife, Lyn (who is currently a reading specialist
at the Ketchikan Charter School), have two grown daughters.
