FIRE RESTRICTION FOR BLACK HILLS
AREA NOW IN ONE PLACE
CUSTER, SD: AUGUST 11, 2008
Are open campfires allowed in the Black Hills? It depends.
South Dakota’s local, State, and Federal agencies have now
combined all fire restriction information in one web site, www.BlackHillsFireRestrictions.com.
The new site shows fire restrictions in place in counties, national
parks, and national forests in the Black Hills Area and includes
parts of three states, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Viewers at the site may use an interactive map to find the appropriate
local, State, or Federal agency, county, or city, and then discover
immediately what is and is not allowed today. The site is updated
frequently.
The site contains links to FireWise information to protect your
home if you live in fire country, and links to fire information
as well as links to individual organization sites. For example,
you can find out what today’s fire restrictions are for Mount
Rushmore, and then read additional information about specific details.
For more information visit the site. There is a feedback form to
help us improve the service.
