Through the introduction of new patterns and kanji, you learn to conduct brief extemporaneous conversations in Japanese and enhance your ability to read and speak the language.

Introductory Japanese II (JAPN1153E) or equivalent.

To introduce the student to intermediate-level Japanese grammar and vocabulary, while increasing their abilities to read and converse more fluently in Japanese.

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to interact in increasingly complex conversations; while reading and writing at an intermediate-level of Japanese.

Instruction
Major topics covered in the course include 'te' form + mo ii desu ka; usage of 'nai' form of the verb + de kudasai; 'te' form + imasu; ...ga suki desu and ...ga ii desu; 'TAI' form - want to; word order; possibilities and predicate formations.

Vocabulary topics will include asking for things; asking not to do things; actions; expressing preference; ordering meals; expressing one's present condition and culture.

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests, and final examination.
