UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program
Western SARE Overview

Welcome to the Western Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (WSARE) information site for California. SARE is a program of the USDA’s Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), and is administered through four regions. Western SARE offices are based at Utah State University and the University of Wyoming. The program works mainly through competitive grants conducted cooperatively by farmers, ranchers, researchers and agricultural professionals to advance farm and ranch systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities.

UC SAREP works in cooperation with Western SARE to let California’s agricultural community know about SARE’s grant opportunities, WSARE-funded activities in California, information resources, and professional development programs.
