E-Commerce Readiness Self-Assessment


E-Commerce Readiness Self-Assessment From the viewpoint of an entrepreneur selling products and/or services to the public, you can enter the world of Internet commerce one of two ways;

  1. either you are expanding an existing business to the Internet,
  2. or you are starting a new business from the beginning as an Internet company.

This checklist should be applicable to both situations. It is presented as a series of Yes/No questions.If you answer NO to any item, you should treat it as a deficiency that must be addressed before you are ready to go on-line as a merchant.  

Checklist for new e-commerce entrepreneurs

 Have you ever purchased a product and/or service on-line?    
 Have done on-line research for direct competition?    
 Have you developed a profile of your potential on-line customer?    
 Have you developed a budget?    
 Have you set clear and achievable goals for your on-line business?    
 Do you have a business plan prepared?    
 is your financing in place?    
 Can you operate for a year with no profits from your on-line site?    
 Do you have a plan for the design, development, and operation of your on-line operation?    
 Do you have a plan for advertising you on-line operation?    
 Have you determined how you will be paid on-line?    
 Have you determined how to handle customer feedback and problems?    
 Have you used the Knowledge and Skills Checklist to determine what services you may need to outsource or develop?
