You learn who meets the definition of veteran; who is entitled to veterans' preference in employment in the competitive civil service and in the excepted service; and the circumstances under which veterans' preference applies, including competitive appointments, noncompetitive appointments and merit promotion under the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act.
