Role Purpose
Responsible for the management of all regional product
development operational assets/activities supporting
breeding and applied technology. Responsible for all
regional product evaluation activities and processes.
Operational/Product Evaluation tasks include, but are not
limited to, PD stations and trial locations, trialing and
routine laboratories ensuring operational excellence, best
practices and conformity to the governance of Syngenta
processes and procedures, including HSE, employee
satisfaction and local regulations. Implement of a Quality
Management and budget cost analysis system within the region
is required.
Accountabilities
-
Actively participate as a
member of the NAFTA Vegetable Management team (VMT) and the
NAFTA Regional Representative on the Global VDLT.

Prepare the regional budget by
translating PD program needs into optimal execution of
station and lab activities and trialing, by translating the
strategy in to resource planning (HR, facilities) and
allocate the resources.

Maintain and protect the R&D’s
freedom of operation by managing corporate compliance,
protecting people and assets, managing risk and controlling
liabilities.

Develop, implement and execute
a Quality Management program within NAFTA R&D operations by
means of quality scans/audits. Direct and monitor
implementation of recommendations and new guidelines.

Develop a cost management
system, within NAFTA Station Operations and Product
Evaluation, in which operational costs are detailed and
metrics are fixed and measured annually.

Development new stations phase
out obsolete stations in the NAFTA region.

Advise, propose, communicate,
consolidate and inform your regional manager on strategy and
tactics upon Operational excellence of stations, trials and
routine laboratories by means of drawing reports, providing
feedback and proposals, and performing benchmarks in order
to facilitate, advise and enable company, departmental and
management decision making.

Contribute to and consolidate
the regional PD strategy and secure the implementation by
setting direction for PD Station and Product Evaluation
management. This would include their teams, trial officers
and routine laboratory personnel. Build effective and
efficient Station and Trial organization.

Within the boundaries provided
by your regional manager, manage, direct and coordinate in
close cooperation with HR, the personnel flow with the area
of responsibility, including appraisals, training and
development and career planning by using HR instruments,
guidelines, procedures and advice in order to select and
maintain competent employees and ensure an efficient and
effective functioning department/teams.

Secure implementation of
routine tools and techniques delivered by Research groups
(e.g. molecular markers, DH technologies and Produce
Quality) and information tools.
