POSITION:  PVP Crop Specialist

Monsanto has an opportunity for a PVP Crop Specialist in Woodland, California.

The PVP Crop Specialist will assist the Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Crop Specialist with all aspects of PVP. This includes planning, scheduling, planting, data collection and harvest. The successful candidate must be able to perform a wide variety of administrative tasks that are complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations with the ability to meet required deadlines. He or she must be able to work with minimal supervision, handle multiple projects at once and deal effectively with last-minute requests and changes. The candidate needs to be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform a broad scope of multiple tasks in a fast- paced environment.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Supervise crews of people with diverse backgrounds.

  • Keep accurate records of all data collected.

  • Manage supplies and inventory.

  • Pay close attention to deadlines.

Required Experience/Education/Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Agricultural field.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, etc.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Must work well under pressure.

  • Positive attitude and detail oriented.

  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions. Overtime and weekends seasonally.

Desired Experience/Education/Attributes:

  • 1-3 years of agricultural research experience.

  • Research background is a plus.

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
