POSITION:
Molecular
Marker Laboratory Manager
Location: Longmont, Colorado
Reports to: General Manager, Genetic Services
STA Laboratories, a
leading provider of globally recognized diagnostic services to
agriculture is looking for a motivated scientist with a strong
molecular plant breeding background to manage our growing
molecular marker laboratory. This position is a key management
position and will be involved in innovative strategic guidance
for developing molecular technology, trait detection, and other
genetic services and markets for agriculture. The Genetic
Services Division of STA provides services and products to
agriculture that currently include molecular assisted breeding,
molecular mapping and molecular variety verification, trait
analysis and cultivar purity by IEF protein analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- To coordinate and manage
the daily operations, employees, budget, research &
development and product servicing for the Molecular
Laboratory of the Genetic Services Division
- Budget and resource
management for Molecular Marker Laboratory
- Coordinate proactive
customer service and quality assurance ensuring that all
activities in the Molecular Laboratory are in compliance
with Company Quality Assurance goals and Health & Safety
guidelines.
- Integrate these services
into the company objectives and culture.
- Assist General Manager
with marketing and other activities to meet strategic goals
of the Genetic Services Division.
Desired Qualifications
- Ph.D. or M.S. in an
agricultural science, plant breeding, molecular biology or
related field and more than 5 years molecular marker
laboratory experience.
- A strong interest in plant
breeding or agricultural sciences.
- A commercial approach to
molecular technologies.
- Supervisory or managerial
experience.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Independently motivated
with good organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in business
management, budgets, markets and customer service is
desirable.
- Ability to write grants
and research proposals for service development, investment
and academic cooperation is desirable.
