We seek a motivated RESEARCH ASSOCIATE with the ability to excel
in a multidisciplinary corn research team at our Gothenburg, NE
facility. This individual will organize and oversee daily
operations associated with a comprehensive corn breeding program
aimed at developing new commercial inbred lines. Major
responsibilities include database management, oversight of seed
processing, management of nursery operations, participate in
hiring, training and supervision of seasonal employees, and the
collection and analysis of data. Evaluation and implementation
of improved procedures and technologies will be an important
contributor to success and the candidate is also expected to be
a leader in implementation of company safety standards.
The successful candidate will possess:

MS degree or BS degree

3 years of experience in plant
breeding, agronomy, plant science, or related discipline
-
Familiarity with breeding
methodologies.

Excellent written and verbal
communication and people management skills.

Strong organizational and
record keeping ability.

Proficiency with database
management and spreadsheet software.
-
Ability to work independently
as well as in a team-based environment.

Ability to balance multiple
tasks and achieve deadlines.

Overnight travel during the
corn planting and harvest seasons.
-
Extended hours during peak
seasons.
-
Winter nursery travel is also
possible for up to 3 weeks in January.
