POSITION:
R&D Field
Biologist
Dow AgroSciences, LLC, is a top tier agricultural company
providing innovative crop protection, pest and vegetation

Under the general supervision of the site research manager, the
Field Research Biologist will apply field plot design expertise,
interpersonal skills, agronomic expertise, and field equipment
experience to implement replicated corn silage and grain small
plot and mini-strip plot testing. All actions will be conducted
in a safe manner. Additionally this position will support the
site research manager with administration and site specific
projects to ensure location goals are met.
Responsibilities may include:

Conduct various field research
activities, including but not limited to; yield trial
planning, yield trial site selection, establishing working
relationships with grower cooperators & potential customers,
planting, thinning, plot maintenance, pollinating, note
taking, harvesting, data analysis, reporting, and sample
shipping.

Actively participate in a
multi-disciplinary research team comprised of lab, field and
management personnel.

Assist the corn silage and
grain breeding programs with planting, thinning,
pollinating, plot maintenance, note taking, and harvesting.

Assist the station breeder
with inbred and hybrid characterization.

Interface with all silage and
grain breeding & testing stations with regard to equipment &
process sharing, harvest scheduling, sampling procedures,
and stewardship.

Contribute leadership skills,
ideas and support for all station initiatives including
those relating to HR, EH&S, cross-functional teams and
community development activities.

Travel to outlying trial
locations, other research stations, laboratories, and winter
nursery facilities as needed.

Ensure that DAS EH&S, DOT, and
station regulations & policies are enforced.
Qualifications for this
position include:
-
Bachelors or Masters degree in
crop genetics, agronomy or a related field is required.

Solid understanding of
agronomy, statistics, field equipment and customers needs is
highly desired.

Previous experience with a
crop breeding program is desirable.
-
Demonstrated personal
leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational
skills are essential.

Ability to take initiative and
work effectively on teams is critical.

Enthusiasm and aptitude for
learning & continuous improvement of critical research
activities is desired.
-
Well developed computer skills
are desired.
This position is located in Mt.
Vernon, Indiana.
