POSITION:
Research
Technician, Corn Breeding
LOCATION: Esmond, Illinois
DESCRIPTION: The research technician will contribute to
the team’s efforts to develop and evaluate corn inbreds and
hybrids by organizing and preparing corn yield trials. This will
require the ability to learn and proficiently operate a
proprietary database. Responsibilities will also include
assisting in planting, maintenance, data collection and harvest
of corn yield trials.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform all aspects of the
corn breeding and testing program (90-112 maturity).
- Assist with seed
preparation, seed packaging, data collection throughout the
season, plot harvest and data entry.
- Assist with hand
pollination in breeding nursery and supervision of seasonal
employees.
- Other duties as needed.
EDUCATIONAL
BACKGROUND/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School diploma and 4
years previous agricultural experience in research related
field; B.S. degree in agricultural field preferred.
- Excellent planning &
organizational skills; ability to plan and manage multiple
projects completely and accurately;
- Problem analysis and
resolution skills; strong interpersonal and communication
skills required;
- Self-motivated, detail
orientated, proactive.
- Working knowledge of MS
Office: Excel, Access and PowerPoint & Common PC-based
software
- Positive team player.
OTHER:
- Ability to work required
hours.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
and walk fields; ability to work in both field and station
as required
- Ability to obtain and
maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Must have a valid driver’s
license and meet AgReliant Genetics Motor Vehicle
Guidelines.
- Some overnight travel
required.
