Influence the next
breakthrough in vegetable crop improvement
Syngenta
is a world-leading agribusiness committed to sustainable
agriculture through innovative research and technology. The
company is
a leader in crop protection, and ranks third in the high-value
commercial seeds market. Sales in 2007 were approximately $9.2
billion. Syngenta employs over 21,000 people in more than 90
countries. Syngenta is listed on the Swiss stock exchange (SYNN)
and in New York (SYT). Further information is available at

Would you relish the chance to join a multi-disciplinary team in
a culturally diverse environment, influencing the development of
products that use natural genetic variation to improve vegetable
crops? Delivering better adapted crops for more efficient
production is a major goal. Consumer demands, diets and buying
habits are also changing as nutrition becomes increasingly
important. We are responding with a multi-million pound
investment in commercial product development pipelines. So, if
you have a relevant PhD or equivalent, experience of conducting
field, glasshouse and laboratory experiments, plus sound
analytical and reporting skills, this could be a turning point
in your career.
There will be plenty of scope to define your own role, as you
give the team direction for research activities focusing on
nutrition and health characteristics for a range of vegetable
crops. By providing a lead in defining and dissecting
nutritional and health traits, you’ll help to deliver novel
insights into the genetic control of these characteristics.
Your exceptional understanding of the components of food could
have been gained in research, academia or industry – a plant
background is not needed as training will be given. You should
also have the drive and flexibility to grow our vegetable
business to meet customer demand.
