Pre-Breeder

all major vegetable production areas. As specialist Nunhems® is
active in research, plant breeding, production, processing,
marketing and sales of vegetable varieties for the professional
horticultural production and distribution business.
The global Research & Development activities are coordinated and
steered from Nunhems head office in Haelen, The Netherlands. In
the division Research & Development the department Breeding is
responsible for the continuous improvement of a competitive
assortment of high quality varieties for the professional
grower. To lead our Pre Breeding Cucumber programme in the
Netherlands we are looking for an ambitious and practical Plant
Pre-Breeder.
You will be based in the
Netherlands and will report to the Head of Breeding Europe.
Job purpose
You will be responsible to install in a structured way
special trait or pre-breeding activities. These activities will
support the mainstream breeding in three ways:
1.
Developing half material and gene pools with specific
traits.
2. Developing the respective molecular tools to be used in
breeding.
3. Developing genetic knowledge to improve selection
efficiency

responsibilities

To
develop genetic material enhancing the germplasm of several
crops;

To
develop methods and techniques to enhance germplasm or
improve breeding efficiency;

To
generate knowledge on genetics to increase efficiency in
breeding.

guidance to an assistant and a technician.
