Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh was created by a man who believed in a simple truth - that
knowledge, in all its forms, has the power to better the human condition, and that the free
access to knowledge should be one of the goals of an enlightened society.
Andrew Carnegie was willing to donate his time and considerable expense to this egalitarian goal.
Thanks to his perseverance, Carnegie Libraries dot the country and the world, each
one a testament to Andrew and his convictions.
Contact your Elected Officials
Help us continue the work Andrew Carnegie started more than 100 years ago. Legislative support and funding is critical. Please contact your local, state, and U.S. elected officials to encourage their support to increase public library funding for Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and libraries across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. More specifics can be found at the Pennsylvania Library Association website, www.palibraries.org.
Also, encourage your neighbors, friends and family to do likewise. Every local voice has great power!
