Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh was created by a man who believed in a simple truth - that knowledge, in all its forms, has the power to better the human condition, and that the free access to knowledge should be one of the goals of an enlightened society.

Andrew Carnegie was willing to donate his time and considerable expense to this egalitarian goal. Thanks to his perseverance, Carnegie Libraries dot the country and the world, each one a testament to Andrew and his convictions.
