Nominations
The American Horticultural Society’s Great
American Gardeners Awards Program recognizes
individuals and institutions that have made
significant contributions to American horticulture. If
you have a “horticultural hero” – a memorable
professor, a favorite garden writer, or the driving
force behind an incredible community project, for
example – consider submitting a nomination for this
distinction.
The American Horticultural Society Awards
Committee is comprised of Board members and staff with
expertise in a variety of horticultural fields.
Winners are notified in December, the selections are
made public in March, and the Great American Gardeners
Awards Ceremony and Banquet is held in June to
recognize the winners for their accomplishments and
contributions to the world of horticulture.
The nomination form
must be completed
in its entirety to be considered for a Great American
Gardeners Award. Each year, 12 separate awards are
given, specific to various horticultural fields. For a
description, click
here.
Supporting information such as
publications, awards, biography, etc., must accompany
nomination form. Please be clear, concise, and
thorough regarding the nominee’s accomplishments.
Please limit the supporting information to no more
than 10 pages. The AHS Awards Committee reserves the
right to eliminate a nomination based on insufficient
supporting materials, transfer a nomination to a more
appropriate award, or revoke the selection at any
time.
Please send the completed nomination form and
supplemental information to the following address by
September 30, 2008.
