Events Calendar
Throughout the year, the Centre for Alternative Technology hosts a variety of events and activities designed to enhance your experience as a visitor. These range from hour-long specialist tours to all day events and children’s activities. We also have free audio tours to guide you around the Centre.Our 2009 events are listed below. Check again soon for more details and additional events throughout the year. On occasion it is necessary for us to alter the timings or content of these events. Consequently, we advise that you check the website shortly before you visit us to confirm the details. Contact: events@cat.org.uk NOW OPEN ON THURSDAY EVENINGS: THE QUARRY CAFE Spend an evening relaxing in the Quarry Café, CAT’s vegetarian wholefood restaurant in Machynlleth.Whether you want a light meal for two or a chat with friends over a slice of cake, the Quarry Café will offer a warm welcome and as always, delicious locally sourced organic meals, drinks and snacks. Thursday evenings, open till 11pm, last food orders 9pm Bring your own alcoholic drinks
Winter Tree Tour | Saturday 31st January 2009 | Learn more about the features of trees in winter, and identify different species. The tour will be approximately one hour in the afternoon, details to be confirmed Free with entry ticket |
"Nine Miles" - Book Reading | Thursday 12th February | Author Jim Hindle reads from his book, at the Quarry Cafe Jim Hindle's inspiring book tells of the fight against the Newbury bypass and other road protests. Come along to the Quarry Cafe in Machynlleth to hear him read from the book, and enjoy some delicious wholefood while you're there. 7pm, bring your own alcoholic drinks Nine Miles website |
Community Tree Planting | Saturday 14th February 2009 | An event for all ages in CAT's woodland, Coed y Gwern. Plant a tree for your loved one and learn about woodland management with with biologist Grace Crabb Details to be confirmed |
Learn to Make a Bird Box or Mammal Shelter | Saturday 7th March 2009 | See if you can create a cosy shelter for mammals or birds this winter. The shelters will be used in CAT's woodland once they've been made. 2pm |
