Tis' the season to be shopping for presents, in the local store or virtual shopping over the Internet. I want a fish finder for my Heritage Redfish fishing kayak. Hint, hint! Kelly has been a woodworker for as long as he can remember. After serving in the Air Force he completed a four year Carpenter's Union Apprenticeship in Miami. His specialty eventually became Acoustical Ceiling Mechanic although he worked on all kinds of interior finish projects: hanging doors, framing walls, setting tile floors, painting, etc. He was a Journeyman Carpenter for fourteen years until he completed night school at the University of Houston, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. He was a Software Engineer for seven years, working at NASA and in the energy and transportation sectors. He is particularly proud of being on the development team for IMARS, the database and GUI interface project for the construction and operation of the International Space Station. For a time he owned and operated a small business (no longer in operation), doing handyman work, small residential renovations, and commercial strip center build-out. He still does home improvement projects on the side. Throughout all his career changes, the one thing he has done continuously is write. He has published Science Fiction on the Internet, articles in local periodicals, had a monthly column supplemented with on-call stringer work in the "Sports Edition" magazine, been editor of a triathlon club newsletter for several years, and has been a full-time Freelance Write since October 2006. He blogs here and maintains a site with a DIY forum. Kelly currently lives in League City, Texas with his wife, daughter, and two dogs and enjoys kayak fishing in the gulf when he's not writing. |
