BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST APPROVES
THE MINERAL PROJECT
SPEARFISH, SD: NOVEMBER 30, 2005
On October 21, 2005, Northern Hills District Ranger Pamela E. Brown
approved the following activities for the Mineral project area:
commercial timber harvest on 1,350 acres, meadow enhancement on
79 acres, fuels reduction and fuel breaks on a combined 2,140 acres,
construction of 3.1 miles of road, reconstruction of 10.4 miles
of road, maintenance of 7.7 miles of road and closing of 4.9 miles
of road. All figures are approximate.
The Mineral Project area consists of 9,241 acres in Lawrence County,
South Dakota approximately five miles south of Lead. The project
area includes 3,445 acres of interspersed lands of other ownerships.
This decision applies only to National Forest System lands within
the project area.
