TSO Curriculum Receives National Recognition

During the 20th Anniversary New American Farm Conference, sponsored by Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program, the “Tilling the Soil of Opportunity: NxLeveL Guide for Agricultural Entrepreneurs” curriculum was cited as being one of the most important national training programs for agricultural producers. Marilyn Schlake, Associate Director of the NebraskaEDGE program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was a project coordinator and co-editor and writer for the agricultural training program. "The objective of the course is to help agricultural producers develop a plan to bring their value-added products into consumer markets, Schlake said, “It teaches them the business aspect of their valued-added farm business.”

The Tilling the Soil course is being offered across 20 states at universities, small business development centers and other educational facilities. Currently, the curriculum is available in test book form.
