Educational Outreach

Educational outreach is essential to ensure a future NOAA workforce that reflects the rich diversity of our nation. It is important to reach school-age children of all genders, ethnicities, religions, and physical abilities so that they are aware of the career opportunities within NOAA, and to encourage them to pursue studies in NOAA mission related sciences.

To assist employees in their outreach activities, we have developed The NOAA Educational Outreach Toolkit. It was designed to facilitate the process for NOAA employees making presentations to students in grades K through12, and for other outreach activities. The kit provides employees with printed materials, hand-outs and a slide presentation which describes all of NOAA. The tools can be used together or individually, and the presenter can tailor the presentation to suit their needs.

We hope that you will take advantage of these tools.

  1. Publications and Brochures: **
A wide selection of publications and brochures, separated according to appropriate grade level.

  2. Hand-outs: **
These include: pencil cases containing pencils, sharpeners and 6" rulers; pen/highlighters and; colorful 12" rulers. They are all imprinted with the NOAA logo and slogan,"Making a World of Difference" and the NOAA Education web site address.

  3. Slides and Text:
A PowerPoint slide presentation with suggested text about NOAA. The user can select slides to suit his/her presentation.
Click for slideshow, "NOAA Educational Outreach Presentation".
[Slideshow requires Microsoft PowerPoint (Version 97 or later).]
