Publication Policies and Guidelines

The purpose of Compost Science & Utilization is to provide a multidisciplinary forum to communicate the findings of researchers in agricultural engineering, biomass utilization, civil engineering, crops and soils, economics, environmental science, finance, forestry, horticultural science, microbiology, plant pathology, public health, soil and water conservation, solid waste management and wastewater treatment.

A major editorial objective is to increase interaction between researchers and compost practitioners. Journal topics focus on management techniques to improve compost process control and product quality, with special emphasis on the utilization of composted materials.

Compost Science & Utilization is a peer-reviewed journal. Additionally it includes evaluations of operations and process control methods at composting facilities.

When submitting manuscripts for publication, please send four copies, double-spaced, with figures and tables. Manuscripts must be submitted in English with acceptable English grammar (click here for sample article in pdf format). After papers are accepted, authors must provide electronic copies of final manuscripts (via disk or e-mail attachments) in either Microsoft® Word©, Word Perfect© or other compatible word processing application. Authors are requested to prepare an abstract and an introduction, with references listed at the end of the manuscript. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to furnish originals of graphs, diagrams, etc.

For accepted papers (effective January 1, 2004), a fee of $50 per formatted/designed page of text, tables/figures will be billed to the corresponding author. Payment of the format/design fee is due upon acceptance of the proof copy of paper, sent to author about three weeks prior to publication date of the issue. Payment is accepted by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or by check payable to The JG Press, Inc., drawn on U.S. bank.
