Tailor-made Residential Education Facilities

Our highly qualified and experienced Education team have developed and run hundreds of Educational Activity Programmes.

Our education staff have wide experience of teaching at all levels from Key Stage 2 upwards. We are able to offer a broad range of environmental topics covering lectures at Ph.D. level to activities for special needs groups.Past residential groups include: people with special needs, primary school students, students following GCSE, Advanced level, College and University courses, teachers and other adult groups.

Subject areas cover (amongst many others): engineering, architecture, science, geography, environmental science, technology and building studies.

Our staff have many years of hands-on experience, often backed up by academic expertise in their subjects. Our renewable energy hardware, organic gardens and sewage systems are ideal for practical sessions, and the holistic approach of the Centre enables topics to be examined in a broad environmental context.

Programmes are designed in co-operation with the group concerned and are specifically adapted to the needs and abilities of the participants. We are happy to plan to mix sessions from your staff and ours.

Activities and Tuition

Activities include:

  • guided woodland and hill walks
  • sensory explorations
  • role play and drama workshops
  • co-operative games
  • practical design and making activities.

We also offer guided tours of CAT, slide shows and question and answer sessions.

It is usually a good idea to begin your visit with a guided tour and end with a question and answer session.

Please see the tuition section for more details.

Further details are available on request.

We have photocopiable study guides for use on site from KS2 to A level.

Prices for staff time:

We charge our time at approximately £40 per staff member per hour. Tuition and activities must be booked at least four weeks in advance because we often have more than one group in at once and we also have day groups to teach.

Communal and monitoring activities are available in the Eco Cabins. Each group receives a free introductory talk about the Cabins.

All our educational work is carried out as part of our charitable company, CAT Charity Ltd.
