Chris McLaughlin, Brittany McLaughlin

Chris has been gardening, and studying plants for over thirty years. Her passion for gardening led her to become a Master Gardener in May of 2000. During that time she discovered that she enjoyed planting for wildlife, and became certified with the National Wildlife Federation to help people plan, plant and certify their yards as Wildlife Habitats.

One of Chris' most rewarding experiences was working for Sierra Wildlife Rescue in Placerville, California for several years. The knowledge and insight she gleaned from the experts at SWR, and the wildlife biologists led her to start a domestic rabbit rescue group in the same area. Since then, she has been a part of several domestic animal rescues.

As a mother of four, and a 4H leader, she enjoys nothing more than sharing her love for plants and wildlife with kids. Today, she teaches kids about plants and the essential impact they have on our lives. Plants and gardening tips that strike her fancy also get some publicity on her website, The Savvy Plant and her SF Gardening Examiner page.

Chris is thrilled to be the Feature Writer for Mammals on Suite 101, and also enjoys writing about hobby farming, and pets.

She and her husband live in the San Francisco Bay Area with their four awesome kids, more animals than she will admit to, and the most gorgeous grand baby you have ever seen.
