Report: Connect + Shift --> Link: Youth Media for Social Change conference -
In July 2006, the Kellogg Foundation convened a group of youth media and youth activists to share ideas about how to get young people involved in social change work using youth media. The report from the conference discusses the emergent issues and ideas from the conference, including
- Getting Involved: Youth Ownership and Leadership;
- Roles and Responsibilities of Young Media-Makers;
- How We Hear It, Tell It, and Get It Out;
- Raw Truth vs. Amicable Confrontation: On Audiences;
- Youthful Rebellion as an Avenue for Social Change;
- Thoughts on the Adult/Youth Disconnect;
- Dealing with It: Stereotypes and Assumptions;
- Rural Issues and Youth Media;
- a What's Next section;
- and a summary of what was learned.
Included with the hardcopy report is a DVD that includes audio, video, and written materials produced by the conference participants, as well as the evaluation report of the conference. A PDF file of the conference report is available here for download. |
