2008 Ranked Top 10 in State E-Government
Tennessee.gov was ranked 10 in the nation in this report by The Brookings Institution. The report assesses the nature of American state and federal electronic government in 2008 by examining whether e-government effectively capitalizes on the interactive features available on the World Wide Web to improve service delivery and public outreach.

The Center for Digital Government is pleased to announce the winners of its 2007 Digital Government Achievement Awards. Tennessee received an honorable mention for the Tennessee Integrated Criminal Justice Portal, which is an innovative solution combining four databases into a single secure site where law enforcement officials across Tennessee can search and cross-reference.
Brown University
2007 E-Government Survey Ranked 5th
The State of Tennessee provides many dynamic features including RSS feeds, Live Help, a digital photo album, and multiple audio and video files. All of the offered online services were neatly centralized through one link and divided into 13 easy access categories. The portal page also featured a Law and Justice link that provides national and state AMBER alerts and allows users to search for felony, meth, and sex offenders, according to Brown University’s 2007 survey of state and federal web sites and e-government services.

Tennessee placed fourth in the nation in Brown University's evaluation of state sites. Survey topics included online databases, foreign language, premium fees, disability access, several measures of privacy policy, multiple indicators of security, presence and number of online services, email addresses, comment forms, PDA accessibility, and readability level.

Tennessee.gov was selected based on the following criteria: A visible privacy statement, actual online services (beyond downloading PDFs), so that citizens can complete transactions online from start to finish, and a written policy/program demonstrating implementation of Web accessibility standards.

The top state in the Brown University 2002 state eGovernment ranking was Tennessee. This means that every agency Web site was for features important for information availability, citizen access, portal access, and service delivery.

The 2002 Digital State Survey ranked Tennessee fourth in the category of technology Management and Administration. Kent Lassman, director of the Digital Policy Network, singled out Tennessee for its showing. "We're very pleased to see Tennessee crack into the top ranks; for the third time in the survey's five years the Volunteer State is among the top 10 in a category."
