Health General Grantmaking continues to be focused on projects that address several key assumptions:

• individual, family, and community “health” is determined by interdependent, complex factors and conditions;
• community-based approaches that build upon the assets of the community are the most sustainable; partnerships add strength;
• effective leadership can transform communities and systems;
• evaluation and communications are strategic tools that contribute to success and leverage impact, and;
• public policy that is informed by local knowledge and experience plays a vital role in promoting health and changing systems.
