Organic food grade soybeans have sold for as high as $20 a bushel. But you won't get that price if you're careless with how you harvest and store your beans. Was your harvesting equipment improperly adjusted or poorly maintained? Were the beans poorly dried and stored too wet? Were they handled roughly--cracked and bruised? All of these factors and more are part of ensuring that you get the organic price premium you're hoping for.
The same care applies to produce and fruits--picking at the right time of day and storing and transporting at the right temperature. Below you'll find a wide variety of practical tips on proper harvest, storage and handling of organic fruits, grains and vegetables.
