Analytical Tools and Methods

Superfund Basic Research Program

Analytical tools and methods are applicable to the detection and monitoring of contaminants at Superfund sites. Analytic support has added value to biomedical and non-biomedical research projects through the introduction of highly sophisticated and cost-effective analytical procedures. Specifically, these tools are used in site characterization, fate and transport studies, risk assessments and to improve the understanding of toxicity and disease etiology. Analytical tools also play a critical role in the validation of biomarkers, which are invaluable in the prevention, early detection and early treatment of disease.
