IFA appoints John Filan Executive Director
Governor Rod R. Blagojevich announced that John B. Filan will serve as the new Executive Director of the Illinois Finance Authority.

At its December 2008 meeting, the IFA Board named Christopher B. Meister to General Counsel and Deputy Director, and J. Stuart Boldry, Jr. to Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer.
IFA also welcomes new staff members Beverly Womack, Executive Assistant to John Filan, and Kara Nystrom-Boulahanis, Project Coordinator and Assistant Secretary.
Federal Home Loan Bank Letter of Credit Provision – A Positive for Access to Capital
With the recent passage of the Housing Relief Bill, a new provision will enable Federal Home Loan Bank member banks to obtain Letters of Credit to support certain tax-exempt bond issues. Local, community-based member banks will have an additional resource for obtaining highly rated credit enhancement to support tax-exempt bond issues, particularly for non-rated borrowers.
