Governor Blagojevich Names Kurt Friedenauer as Director of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice
CHICAGO - September 24, 2008 - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today named Kurt Friedenauer as the director of the
Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) to continue the department’s goal to help the

Decatur - August 24, 2007 - The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) today announced two-year results of Redeploy Illinois, a four-city pilot project to reduce recidivism among juvenile offenders. The project provides funding to local agencies to deliver comprehensive, community-based services to youth who might otherwise have been sent to an IDJJ youth center. SPRINGFIELD - Apr 18, 2007 - The Illinois Departments of Corrections (IDOC) and Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) announced the recipients of the 2007 Volunteer of the Year awards at a recognition ceremony held today in Springfield . Phillip L. McLaurin was named IDOC 2007 Volunteer of the Year and Tim Tomlinson at Illinois Youth Center – Pere Marquette was named as the 2007 Volunteer of the Year for IDJJ. McLaurin and Tomlinson were among volunteers of the state's 28 adult correctional centers, eight adult transition centers and eight youth facilities who were being honored for their outstanding leadership and their efforts in providing positive change in the lives of inmates and youths. Gov. Blagojevich names acting director of new Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice
New department to provide treatment and services to juvenile offenders
SPRINGFIELD - May 26, 2006 - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today named Kurt Friedenauer as the acting director of the new Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. Last fall, the Governor signed legislation creating the new department that will provide treatment and educational, vocational, social and emotional services to the state’s young offenders to help them get on the right track. Friedenauer currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Juvenile Corrections Division within the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. More... |
