Paul Jepson completed a B.Sc. ARCS in Zoology and Applied Entomology at Imperial College, London and a Ph.D. in Applied Insect Ecology Cambridge University before taking up a lectureship in IPM and Ecotoxicology at the University of Southampton in the UK, where he also coordinated an international M.Sc. program in IPM. He came to Oregon State University in 1995 and has been Director of the Integrated Plant Protection Center, within the College of Agricultural Sciences , State IPM Coordinator for Oregon and a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology  since July, 2002.

Paul’s research interests in IPM include the study of pest and natural enemy population dynamics in agricultural systems and have focused particularly on pesticide management and side effects, biological pest control and the development of ecological risk assessment for beneficial invertebrates. He has worked in Europe and N. America within numerous temperate and Mediterranean IPM systems, in W, Africa on locust and grasshopper management and in Peru, S. America on insect pest resistance management. Partners in these programs included the Food and Agriculture Organization (UN), The UK Natural Resources Institute, Wageningen Agricultural University, the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland, The Danish Natural Environment Research Institute   and the numerous current programs and partners represented on the IPPC web site.

Paul is active in IPM education and outreach and has provided IPM instruction and workshops in the UK, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Kenya, Malaysia, Peru and the Pacific Northwest States of the USA. He has spoken at numerous international conferences on IPM and ecotoxicology and has been a consultant to the US EPA on FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panels and in collaboration with the National Risk Management Research Laboratory, the USDA APHIS Biotechnology Regulatory Services and the FAO (UN) Plant Production and Protection Division. He has served on a number of international, national and state committees and working groups.
